Clean imports
- Calendar events — via Cozi's iCal export, including recurring rules
- Family member roster — names, color codes, ages, relationship to household
- Color codes and categories — your color scheme survives the move
Migration · Cozi → Aule
We will move your Cozi history into Aule for you, free, as part of your founding-cohort onboarding call. Your calendar, your shopping list, your recipes, your family roster — everything you spent years building stays with you.

TL;DR
The migration is the onboarding call. Thirty to forty-five minutes with Brennan or Haley. We move your Cozi history - calendar, family roster, shopping list, recipes, color codes, birthdays - into your Aule household memory layer before the layer activates. Included in the Founding Charter; nothing extra to buy.
Why this exists
Cozi's only real moat is the decade of data lock-in. There is no export. There is no data portability story. Long-tenured users who have built their family operating system in Cozi since 2014 or 2015 face an implicit choice when they consider leaving: rebuild from scratch, or do not leave.
The May 2024 paywall - when Cozi imposed a 30-day calendar viewing limit on the free tier - was the moment a lot of long-tenured households said the relationship had changed. Trustpilot collapsed; the word “hostage” recurred across reviews. Many of those households still have not replaced Cozi, because the lock-in is real.
The migration is not a feature. It is a respect statement. The work you did over a decade is yours. We will move it for you so you do not start over.

The call
Brennan or Haley sets up a screen-share with you on Cozi and on your Aule onboarding console at the same time. The call is conversational, not procedural. As we walk through Cozi together, the data moves. As we talk about your household, the memory layer fills in - your routines, vendor preferences, the patterns you have built up that were never written down in Cozi because Cozi did not have anywhere to put them.
By the end of the call - thirty to forty-five minutes, usually - your household memory layer is populated, the calendar is synced, the family roster is in, and you have seen the layer the way Aule sees it. You confirm. Aule activates. The first morning brief lands the next day.
What arrives Day 1
Something like this lands in your channel the morning after activation.
Week of Day 1
I will have questions during the first week as I figure out what is still current vs what is history. None of this is wrong; some of it might be old.
Recurring: soccer Tuesday + Thursday at 5:30pm
— still current?
Recurring: piano Wednesday at 4pm
— still current?
Top-used: sheet-pan chicken, taco Tuesday, salmon Fridays
— want me to start the meal-planning loop from these?
Recurring items: oat milk, eggs, the brand of yogurt the kids will actually eat
— anything I should not auto-add?
Birthdays: Mia (Jun 8), Owen (Sep 14), partner (Nov 3)
I will surface them three weeks out.
The first week is the layer testing what is still alive and what is just history. You answer in the moment; the memory layer updates. By week two, the layer is calibrated.
Brennan's note
“Cozi got you to the calendar. We are what happens next. The 10 years you put in are not the price of admission for the next decade - they are the head start. We will move them for you, and we will respect that you did the work.”
— Brennan McCloud, Founder, Aule
Included
Founding-cohort migration is included in the Founding Charter at $299/mo or $2,999/yr. The onboarding call is the migration; there is nothing additional to buy. The founding rate is locked for life for the first 250 households.
Common questions
Thirty to forty-five minutes. Brennan or Haley walks you through the migration live - we are screen-sharing on Cozi while we move the data, and we are asking the questions the layer needs to know to start working for you. You do not have to do prep work beforehand; the call is the prep work. By the time the call ends, the household memory layer is populated and Aule is ready to start the first loop.
No. Keep Cozi running through the migration and for a few weeks after if you want the comfort blanket. Cozi will continue to do exactly what it has been doing (storing the data you type into it); Aule will start doing what comes next (closing loops). When you are ready, cancel Cozi - or do not. Aule does not require you to leave Cozi to start using Aule.
That is fine. Aule sits on top of Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, and Outlook with full two-way sync. If you use Cozi, your partner uses Apple Calendar, and the kids' school publishes to Google Calendar, Aule reads and writes to all three. Each partner stays in the channel they already use; the layer holds the unified view.
Yes. At the end of the onboarding call, you see the full household memory layer the way Aule sees it - family roster, calendar history, recurring schedules, vendor preferences (if you had any in Cozi notes), shopping-list patterns, recipes, color-coded categories. You confirm; activation flips the switch. Anything that looks wrong gets edited on the spot.
Send a note to your operations partner; we will fix it. Migrations are the kind of work where small things get lost (a recurring event from 2017 that no longer applies; a recipe that was never quite right). Aule does not pretend migrations are clean - we expect to be touching up the household memory layer for the first two weeks. That is what the first-two-weeks check-in is for.
No. Founding-cohort migration is included in the Founding Charter at $299/mo or $2,999/yr. The onboarding call is the migration; there is nothing additional to buy.
No, we do not reimburse Cozi Gold. The decision to cancel Cozi is yours; the timing is yours; the prorated refund (if any) is a question for Cozi. Aule does not get involved in your relationship with Cozi - we just take care of the data move when you are ready.
